Creative Frontend Engineer
Design and build the immersive, intuitive, animated interfaces through which people experience FingerTrip. You will own the UX and frontend craft that turns complex intelligence into a product that feels effortless.
How we work
We work primarily on Mac, with Notion as our shared workspace and Claude, Codex, or Cursor as everyday building tools. Experience with them is welcome; curiosity and a willingness to learn them are essential.
What you will do
- Own UX design and frontend implementation for FingerTrip’s map-first, mobile-first product experience.
- Prototype interaction and motion in Figma or Adobe After Effects, then bring it to life with React, TypeScript, CSS, and Motion.
- Make discovery, recommendations, planning, and navigation feel obvious through strong information architecture, feedback, and transitions.
- Build and evolve a responsive, accessible, high-performance design system that feels excellent from 375px upward.
What we are looking for
- Strong production experience with React, TypeScript, modern CSS, and interaction or animation implementation.
- A portfolio that shows excellent UX judgment, visual craft, and the ability to ship the interfaces you design.
- Fluency in at least one of Figma or Adobe After Effects, including prototyping states, transitions, and motion behavior.
- The ability to simplify complex flows, test ideas with users, and make deliberate decisions about hierarchy, feedback, and accessibility.
- Comfort owning ambiguous work end to end in a small team and improving it quickly from real-world feedback.
Nice to have
- Experience with maps, geospatial interfaces, WebGL, data visualization, or creative coding.
- Experience building gesture-rich, real-time, spatial, or AI-assisted consumer interfaces.
- A personal practice — side projects, motion work, generative art, or writing about design — that shows how you think about craft.
